1.6l Auto Tranny
« on: September 25, 2005, 02:00:00 PM »

I've been compiling a list, for the heck of it, of items that give the 1.6l w/ auto tranny more hp, and here's what i've come up with:

turbo kit
http://www.hiboost.com/kit16.html
i suspect will give an auto 163hp @ 9psi (taken from http://www.msprotege...light=1.6 turbo )

Mazda Protege Catback exhaust system
from www.shaneracing.com
adds ~9hp

Protege High Flow Catalytic Converter
from shaneracing.com
adds ~8hp and is 11lbs lighter than stock

1.6L Complete Pulley Set
shaneracing.com
adds from 9-13hp(we'll say 11)

In theory, the 1.6l mazda protege engine w/ automatic transmission , can produce 191hp

correct me if i'm wrong.

also this will cost: ~ $4797USD with no tax, and s&h included.

if i missed somthing, or you found somthing that will add, or for some reason there's no way in hell, this will work: then feel free to flame me

ps i had a 98 civic w/ manual tranny. t'was turbo'd and had a nice catback. Flame me if you think my stats are crap(do research first) don't flame me if you think it dumb to turbo charge an auto tranny(based upon recent events, my cousins turbo charged 300zx w/ auto tranny blew up because he put to much boost on a daily drive, so do i) or if you think it ghey to have fwd. just don't flame because you have nothing to do.

Have you considered maybe buying another car to have as a performance machine and just using this one as a relatively fuel efficient daily driver?  You could easily buy an older Z-28 or Foxbody mustang for that price and have a few bucks left over to mod it.  Just a thought.

yea i know. i'll never turbo charge my protege. maybe cold air intake, pulley, and upgraded brakes, + other menial mods. but i'm hurting for cash, can't afford a second vehicle right now.
