I had a xbox for about 8 months and found out I hadn't played with it in about 7 months, which was kinda lame I thought. So I figured, why don't I? Games are too expensive for me was the simple conclusion. So I decided to mod it. Softmodding seemed easiest for a electronic noob, so I cut my 4th controller cable, cut a usb connector and taped it up. After a lot of trial and error I got a savegame on my mom's USB bar, and after accidently hitting the right button on the d-pad at the right moment I got the savegame on my xbox.
please don't skip this part
I loaded up 007 AUF, hit load game, and the screen said something like "loading savegame". Screen went black, and the HDD started to make a lot of noise, as if it runs 20.000 rpm. As if it's you old 4x cd-rom drive while loading a game.. that much noise. About 3 times as much as before (and I thought it already was loud back then). Then the UnleashX screen appeared, I did my backups before installing UXE. Then I installed UXE, the tray light went red, flash flash flash, then a screen that said "loading linux" appeared, screen went all sorts of colour which quite worried me. After 10 minutes it had not gone, so I turned off my xbox, turned it back on and had a fully functional UnleashX dashboard. Games and everything work fine, but the HDD noise remains. If I put a game in the tray and don't let the dashboard show up, there's no noise (well, regular noise).
Now my question: is this normal? Can I just let it be the way it is? Have I done something wrong? Can I make it "quiet" again? Any help would be much appreciated.
