ok, so i figure i'll put this out to get flamed on :-P i'm fixing to move and not sure when i'll get internet hooked up at the new place, so here she is.

the car, 1982 volvo 245 turbo, manual tranny and locking REAR diff, 7.5:1 compression 2.1L fourcylinder. bought it for $300 with an oil leak. towed it home and started taking stuff apart. pulled the exhaust mani and turbo to get to the leak, and started replacing parts. figured since the parts were off, might as well upgrade. i got a better stock exhaust manifold and had the exhaust side of the turbo gasket matched/lightly ported. then slapped a 60 trim t3 wheel and housing on it(it's still a little small, but will go bigger when i go aftermarket ems). so now i've got a ported 63/60 straight t3. then i found a better intake manifold for free, so it had to go on. the radiator was leaking, so i got a nice three row and an e-fan. the previous owner pulled the a/c, and the power steering was leaking, so i pulled that(i really didn't notice a difference on the first test drive). found a nice ricer style bar and plate ic on ebay for about $180. got a 3inch downpipe made up(that's an o2 sensor, not wbo2 so don't tell me it's gonna die :-P ) stripped a wagon interior, a friend said $50 and i could take whatever i wanted. leather/heated seats, door panels, dashboard, carpet/etc (still under construction, but you get the idea) got yokohama avid's (205/55/r15) put on the stock turbo alloy rims. did a little paintin on the trim, still have to sand/paint the bumpers. changed all the fluids, rigged up this and that and took it for a test drive last night for the first time. found out the bushings are shot and the tranny is a bit rough, prolly needs shocks/struts. i've got some stiffer springs and camber plates, just gotta find time for them.

and here are the pics:

my other car is an 88 volvo sedan(244) with over 320k on the odometer. gonna throw in a new(newer used) highcompression motor and slap a turbo and aftermarket ems and give her some more pep. no, these aren't the fastest cars on the road, but they are fast enough to have fun in. i just visited some volvo nuts in alabama and two guys put down over 300hp and ran about 13.6 in the 1/4 on street tires. but most guys with just upped boost run high 14-15 second 1/4's

oh yeah,
jason

thanks for looking at my long post

Volvo turbos can be made reasonably quick. But my advice is to go with a Chevy 350. (There are kits to put them in Volvos). I have a friend with the same LT1 I have in my Camaro in his Volvo sedan. If our mods were identical he'd probably be slightly faster based on weight. Granted I think my car lends to traction better.

i'm over v8 swaps. i've got an lt1 in my 94 z28. it's not all that. the beauty of this engine, forged crank, forged 23mm rods(i think, but they are huge), forged pistons stock. parts are dirt cheap, i can change the spark plugs because i'm bored in less than 20 minutes(do that in your camaro) they are just too easy to work on, and i was hooked when my best friend in college had one, and i had my z28, we could do so much cool stuff to his slow ass car, and nothing to mine

What?  A chevy 350 is probably one of the most moddable engines in existance.  Are you talking about a 350 in a different car or are you talking about the turbo 4 banger that is in volvos?

this is cheaper, believe me(custom parts suck, and the kits are a waste of money). and just as fast. this is the sbc of europe

unless you bolt a snail to a sbc
