Looking For A First Car..

In a car as light as a Sprint 70hp and 107 ft/lbs go a long way. There's plenty of cars that cant run a low 16 quarter mile. And a simple homeade boost controller you can max out the turbo with no issues. Add a freer flowing exhaust and possibly an intake and it's a cool and rare little car that catches a lot of highschool kids in hondas off guard. I won far more races in that then I have with the z28. People would think they could race a Sprint. They dont think they can race a Z28.

Plus, how can you really lose. EVERYTHING has more displacement then it. So if you beat something you beat something with much greater displacement. If you lose, well, you simply didn't have a huge engine like them. It's much easier to justify a loss in a I3 1.0 L econo car that gets 40 MPG then a 5.7L V8 that gets 13.....

I actually listed the Sprint because it was pretty powerful for a 1.0L I3. There are others with less HP. But I liked the Sprint. Thats all. I know Europe has some super commuter cars that have next to no HP and get great gas mileage.

Hard to kill them?  BS.  An 80s Dodge Colt is nothing more than a re-badged Mitsubishi Mirage Hatchback.  Mitsubishi Motors are well known for burning oil after only a few years of use.  Mine was an '88 and it went through more oil than it did gas.  I finally ended up seizing the engine in the damn thing because I couldn't keep up with all the oil I had to dump in.  I kid you not, this sucker was starved if you didn't give it 3 quarts of oil per week.  I replaced the engine in it and it started leaking burning oil after only a year or two.  Hardly what I would consider a durable car.  IMHO an early 80s Civic hatchback would be the way to go for something like that.  They can still be had for well under $1,000 and I would actually say that they are better built cars than the late model civics.  Very low maintenence (since they don't have many parts to begin with) and very durable.

I beg to differ. My first car was a 94 mitsu mirage. My mom gave it to me and I drove it from 100k miles to 180k miles then the head gasket blew and I just keept on truckin. The engine still ran fine till 190k miles then I did an engine swap with a 4g63t and I blew that one within 30k miles because the jackass I got it from never told me about all the problems it had till after I blew it. the 4g15 and 4g18 engines in the colt's/mirage's/summit's are very nice durable engines. Dont classify all mitsu engines as bad, only the DSM days had bad engines, the 4g63t engines are what are used as the first and second gen eclipse turbo engines. Those are the ones prone to crankwalk and busting your transmission. The ford probe also had a mitsubishi engine (not all but I do know of one model of the probe with a mitsu engine) and they were very reliable.

There was a ford model that had a mitsu engine. My neighbor has i in his. The door has a mitsu vin number and emblem. The valve cover says mitsubishi and has the three diamonds, the sticker on the windshield says mitsubishi motors and has the diamonds. If I can track him down Ill take pictures.  But yes, I remember for a fact that they did have mitsu engines. I got into almost a fistfight over it because these mustang dousche bags kept saying I was retarded and all this shit so I went out in the parking lot and poped the hood of my friends (not the same as my neighbor) hood and they all just said "damn I guess your right".

I think I already explained why in my previous post.  Scions just seem too much like the next version Hyundai or Kia (make a decent looking car at a cheap price to sucker in the buyer but then have it be shit for durability/maintenence).

My friend had a scion Xa. He said he constantly had problems with it. He ended up trading it a few months ago for a dodge truck, the small s10 wannabe truck. Its the R/T version, and its really nice. He traded the scion in for 15 thousand, he only paid 14,500 for it so basically they paid him 500 dollars to drive a car for 3 months. He paid 10 grand for his truck and with the leftover money he put back in case something brakes on his truck so he can trade it back in and get a mustang. Scion's do suck. the tc is a good looking car, but wouldnt you rather have an Sti?
