I was driving my dad’s car and went in to take it for gas... You know how some cars have a Gas Filler Release by the drivers seat in the bottom, well I opened it up and started filling it up with gas.. anyways when that was done, I was twisting the the gas cap on and I guess I twisted it to much or something but it made some sort of "CLANK" sound as if it were telling me ok its secure, anyways I close the thing up and I hear some sort of noise inside, I reopen it back up and I notice something small falling on the ground. Long story short, when I press the Gas Tank release button, it doesn’t pop open anymore I have to wedge something underneath it to get out of my seat and open it with my fingers... Now my question is?

1. Should I tell my dad? Do you think he will flip out?
2. Is it going to be expensive to fix?
3.Can I repair it myself? If so where the parts?

        does the gas tank still read as full?

     bend the little metal the locks the gas door a little back

Hey,

The gas tank reads full or half depending on how much gas is inside.

I think a spring fell out or something that just needs to be replaced but Im not sure if I should mess around with that metal part.

Instead of it poping out when I press the gas rls by the side of my seat it just dosn't move, I would need someone to hold the gas tank rls while i go and open it with my fingers..

Its a toyota Camry 98
