The Delorean didn't sell too well. Heavy, not too quick, pretty much non-customizable, etc.
John Delorean struck a deal to have cocaine shipped in the panels of his cars to help keep his company afloat despite the poor sales. Turned out to be a sting operation and he got popped.
I don't recall if he did any time, he might have done a really short stint in jail but Delorean Motor Cars was no more.
When I was a kid I thought they were the shit too. I would still love to have one just to take it out occasionally. Drive it as only 88mph
