Fan Went Out
« on: June 12, 2003, 03:38:00 AM »

Hey, i got an X-Box 1.0, this morning when i was gettin' ready to go to school, i heard a strange noise. I went over to my xbox and thats where it was the loudest. I unplugged it and the noise went away. It sounded like the fan went out. When i get home ill open it up and check into it more. Has this happened to anyone else with a 1.0? If so what did you do? Im thinking im going to replace the fan.

The OEM fans are 70mm, which means you need to find another stock xbox fan.  You can get a 60mm, but I wouldnt recommend it since you'll have to run it faster and louder to achieve the same flow.  Get a PC 80mm and cut the HDD tray for it to fit.  It will either drastically improve cooling or reduce noise.

if it ran at more volts wouldnt it not work beacuse what its conected to for power runs at 7 volts and there is nothing really regulating the power flow like a resistor.
