Reliable Cars?
« on: December 29, 2004, 12:38:00 PM »

I mean I have a general idea but what I am really looking for is a detailed breakdown of makes and models over the last 10-15 years.  I know most people go to consumer reports for that sort of thing, but I have heard that they are more than a little "slanted" in their findings.  The deal is that my girl recently wrecked her car and she has about $2500 to spend.  I know it is a very small budget but she should be able to at least find a decent car for that price (no frills).  Payments ARE NOT an option.  She would like a compact 4-door if possible.

If your only consern is reliabilty than get something like an Accord. My friend has a 92 and has never had any major problems (even if he did Hondas are easy to fix).

I'd say an accord would be her best bet if she wants a 4-door

Fist choices would be either a civic or a corolla, stay away from american stuff in that price range (for the most part).

I agree.  BTW can anyone recommend a site where they do a breakdown with various cars and reliability by the year?

i have a 92 accord and never had any problems with it. i would recommend going with something along that lines. i have heard that the 94 accords do have some problems though. i have a friend that has had 2 and  both had oil leaking problems and one blew a head gasket.
