Driving Schools/driving Fast And Fun
« on: December 19, 2004, 03:15:00 PM »

I got my license in october and since then i have loved driving.  I live in colorado and it snows here a lot so i get to drive on ice and snow a lot to. My car is a shitty 1986 Nova with a 90hp 4 banger but its a 5 speed manual.  Im looking for some kind of info or something on driving fast cars and having fun in them like donuts burnouts and stuff if theres such thing, and Drift racing looks realy fun.  Im really just looking for some kind of info on how to get a job driving something fast or anything when im 16 cause i love driving and ask Ripasser im a pretty cray driver (so is he)

NOONE is going to hire a 16 year old for a driving job.

As for driving fast, it is little more then pressing your foot against the floor, and then slowing down for turns.

To do a burnout you need a decent amount of HP/Tourque in your car. But since your car is a 5 speed manual, you could pop the clutch and get a bit of a chirp .
NOTE: this is terrible for your car, and finding a new clutch for a 1986 nova wont be easy, so dont do it often!

If you want to do a real burnout, get a truck or something with a lot of power, get it in gear then hit the gas. Your tires wont get any traction, and will spin until they smoke.

Donuts, just use the E brake

Do this stuff in abandoned parking lots or osmething where you arent going to get hurt/ arent goign to hit anyone else

drifts are pretty dangerous, especially in winter. I remember seeing a home movie of a kid around you age (heh im only 17 what am I saying) where he took his parents car, went drift racing, lost control, and hit another car head on (didnt see the car coming)

Its fun stuff just dont get yourself killed!

I hear NASCAR usually scouts high schools out in Colorado for 16 year old racers.

Yea this kids car is a piece of shit.... but he tears the hell out of it hoping someday he might actually do something cool in his car... but will end up killing an old lady crossin the street.

If you live around snow there's no reason to abuse your car.  My '87 corolla lasted me for several crazy years, thanks to the snow and ice.  Now that I have no snow around, the fun is over.

He means you don't have to rag your car out as much to do drifts, burnouts, donuts, etc, in the snow.I.E. Low amount of traction.REAL easy to wrap it around a tree/power pole tthough.
