I bid to 17K on a R32 on Ebay about 6 months ago. I really like them alot. The handling is supposed to be superb. The looks are solid. Power is obvious. A wonderful car all around. I know many people consider it to be the best.

I don't have much to say about the 33. It's ugly IMO. I'd still gladly own one, but it would be a consolation purchase at best.

The R34 is as mean as it gets. The looks are astonishing. (I like them even more then the FD and Im a mazda guy) Even without knowing what's under the hood it's enough to send shivers. I love it. A technological master piece with gizmos galore. I'd love one. In blue or black, anything else is sacriledge.

All that said the Skyline is amongst my top 5 fave cars. Any of them would be. They all are truly amazing and a rarity in this neck of the woods. I'd gladly own or drive any of them with no qualms or regrets. To give you an idea I bid up fairly high on an older non turbo ATX skyline..... just because.

The R32 would have to be my favorite as well.  It's the cheapest one of the bunch and it seems to come stock with the most HP.  Not to mention it is the only version that seems to have a good selection of AWD models (I could be mistaken but I have seen a number of R33 and R34 listings that specify RWD in the listing).  Someone care to straighten me out on this?  I actually have a really nice R32 as my desktop right now.  It has the sides that are flared just a little bit but it doesn't have the "riced-out" look to it.  Anyways, I love the car but I would really like to learn about the differences in the models.  I know some of the basics but I would really like to know more.  Someone care to brief me on this?  *EDIT*  This isn't exactly the same one as I have posted on my desktop but it is very similar (ie slightly flared sides).

I haven't been a fan since they ditched the RB26DETT.

EDIT: jesterrace, I believe the R33 and R34 Skyline GTR were equipped with AWD.

Isn't that the engine that is in the R32?   Anyways, there was a car show in my area this  summer and a local car modding place, entered in an AWD R32.  To my knowledge it had very little done in the way of performance mods (fuel system and exhaust).  Anyways, it was going up against a number of high-powered muscle cars and no one thought much of the skyline. . . . .until they saw it RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   That thing beat the living piss out of all of the highly modified hotrods that were too busy trying to get traction while the skyline just took off.  Needless to say there were more than a few people that day who went home humbled.  smile.gif

I think the R35 was the first model to have the V6 instead of the I6 (RB26).  I know the G35 is based on the R35 Skyline, and it has a V6.

Shows how much I know.  I didn't even know there was an R35.  That must've been the new "Pussied-out" version that I have heard about.  Didn't they also either remove the turbos or just give it a small single turbo?

Well, I think the standard Skyline model, not the GTR, has never been a turbo...the newer Skyline is definitely not, they're trying to market the car to a different demographic.

The G35 and 350Z are basically the closest we've got to an R35. Skylines were never all turboed or AWD. There were lower end variations of all of them that offered RWD and N/A. Still decent cars though, and I must admit I've tried to chase down a few US legal ones online. I almost think I'd prefer RWD to AWD since Id hate to have the high drivetrain losses.

Truly though a V6 is a bit strange to me. It's like an Rx7 with a non rotary engine or a diesel powered Vette. It's just not right......

You noticed that one too, huh?  There are a bunch of companies who are starting to import them into the US now, so you might find a little more variety but getting them properly imported and street legalized for the US IS A BITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Anyways, I sure hope you can afford that thing.  $32K???   blink.gif

If you read the post above, it explains why the skylines are so damned expensive here in the US. wink.gif

Im thinking about it

Isn't it a hassle to get the proper papers and everything for a car with the steering wheel on the right?

My grandpa was an auto mechanic a long time ago, and he had a Jaguar, you know..the real ones, I'm not sure what he had to do to make it legal.

You can get a legalized skyline without breaking the bank..... too much. I've been looking quite a bit at them and seeing if I can find something fun like this. I feel the overwhelming desire to own a Nissan.
