My dad's friend has been upgrading Grand Prix for tha past 5 years or so with sponsored parts (parts that were sent to him for free by tha companies).  I don't know EXACTLY how many horses it had (I think mid ta high 300s) and he was running low 12s on tha 1/4.  It's am automatic too, lol.  And of course he runs with 101 octane when he drags.  Very nifty car.  It's funny to drive with him on tha freeway when vetts come up to challenge him (he's got an obnoxious(sp?) orange racing stripe down tha middle of his gold car along with a hand full of sponsor's stickers)... tha vett will think "psh", when in fact he's sayin' tha same thing, haha.  Funny stuff.

EDIT: (I know... I edit alot, lol)  He's got about $25,000 worth of free parts on tha thing, haha.  I wish I could do that.

Ive seen 700 HP Supras run high 13 second 1/4s due to excessive wheel spin while my PGT runs comparable times.....  blink.gif (BTW, my mod list is posted around here somewhere in a few places. And it's not even updated....  wink.gif  )

400-500 hp seems right about right. My bud used to have a Fairlady Z TT. Jim Wolfe upgrades (Intake, exhaust, chip) with a whopping 397 rWHP. At 70 he could be in 3rd or 4th and floor it and break his tires free. It was fast and fun and my guess is would have gotten slower with more HP.

Take all my critiscisms of Supras in context. I'd gladly own one.  wink.gif

With a high horsepower supra it also highly depends on the drivers aswell. Some guys have more money than anything, so when its time to hit the track they dont know how to properly drive it... I've seen one guy start off with 14.1 @ the track.. with his new setup.. supposedly putting down 600+RWHP.. I thought that was sad.. but by the end of the night he was getting closer and closer to 10's as he got to know the car more and more down the track... hell, I even cracked some jokes in the beginning  laugh.gif

Yes, one 93 Ford Probe GT for me at the moment. With some  wink.gif  mods. Ill try and get some pics up at some point, but my body is so rough it really doesnt do the mechanical workings of the car any real justice. My car is a sleeper I guess.....

The WRX is pretty nice. And I commend the body work that was done before painting. But my 2 biggest pet peeves in the world on cars are wings and black hoods on non black cars. That's just an opinion.

It's a fine choice. I'd love to point out it's not made in the US and you'd be supporting another countries economy. But let's just keep it between us.

I'd heard the Elise was gonna hit the states. I'd certainly look at buying one if it did. Sadly most of the cars I pine over are out of my price range or not available in the US.  dry.gif

That's okay, the only country I have qualms about supporting is France; and Delfino is British as far as I know.  Additionally, I think production was started and stopped in 2000, though I may be wrong...so buying one would most likely be second hand anyway.

I wouldn't buy a new Japanese car, but Japanese products are everywhere, if you want to buy a TV there really isn't much alternative...unless you get a Daewoo, so not supporting Japan ideologically just doesn't work.

I was wondering how you made it through the day without using a product made in Japan.

I agree with the black hoods being lame if they are painted, i like the look of carbon fiber (if it isnt hugely over done).

the elise is being brought here and i think that it may well already be here but here is a huge waiting list for it.

as for the wrx being over rated... look at the WRC.  bassically wrx's and evos.  and if we didnt have the wrx over here we would probably not have gotten the evo either wich is currently my "god i want it soooo bad car", so thumbs up to it for that too.
