Cheap does not =kick ass.  Honestly, you need to tell us what you are looking for and what your price range is?   (ie cassette, cd, ect.)  and are you just looking for a deck, speakers, or what?  Stereo is a very broad term. wink.gif

In terms of sound quality and cost, I recommend Clarion over any of the others.  Don't get me wrong, Kenwood, Alpine, ect. aren't bad but given the money you would be spending on them, you can do better.  Could you give me a price range for what you want to spend on a CD Player?  The price will be in CDN, right?

I like Clarion alot as well. But if you just want to play CDs in your cars theres plenty of cheap options. Just stay away from the no name brands as most are going to give you problems.

EDIT: Also not crapping on Mike, cuz I know he's done a lot of good business on the boards, but the same stuff as the B/S/T threads apply. Make deals at your own risk. X-S will not be held responsible for deals gone bad.

Well, I found my cheap car stereo
First off, a 10 inch subwoofer, and a custom built box for my Geo Storm. Kenwood Amp, New Front speakers, cant remember the name but its one of those good names, and to top it all off, a crappy old cassette deck!!! ( beerchug.gif )
200 Cdn dollars!

Get a stereo with atleast front and sub pre outs... for later expansaion, get a decent set of somponents for up front, no rear speakers, they're a waste of time and money, and then get a good DVC sub with a mono amp and make sure it's atleast 2 ohm stable...  then when you can afford it buy a decent 2 channel amp that'll put out like 100 watts to each channel RMS, get a class A/B for the comps too...

with a set up like this you'll probably have the best SQ car stereo out of you buddies with very little effort, provided they aren't audiophiles...  wink.gif
