nothing is foolproof, if they want your car, they will get it!

pager alarms are sweet because it alerts YOU

it has a little screen on the remote that tells you if the alarm went off due to a shock sensor, door opening or hood opening. and make sure u tell your insurance company about it just in case your shit does get boosted.

Whats a CCW?
So far, Ive been taking precautions like not bumpin my stareo several blocks near my workplace, neighborhood, or wherever Im gonna park. Been mostly using it on the freeway or while cruisin. I dont pump it up so loud that it can be heard from outside the car (my engine is pretty loud, heh). I dont have any decals on my windows or anything to give away that I have stuff, and I always pull out my decks face (cheapo Aiwa deck, but still).

Ill have to look into this alarm you speak of.

anything else?

Sorry if I seem pushy, Im just paranoid. I hear so much about people getting their cars broken into and having their stuff stolen.

A CCW is a Concealed Weapons Permit, sometimes referred to as a CFP (Concealed Firearms Permit).

I know that in my state of Nevada, there are no limits as to how many firearms, or how many firearms you can carry (as of July 2001, may have changed since then).

It's great to live in one of the free-er states of this nation.  cool.gif

Sure it may be a little on the extreme side, but that all depends on how much you value your belongings and the belongings of others, and possibly your life and the lives of others.

lol

Well I live in the northwest, not much need for a firearm over here. People just beat each other with clubs (a la Nancy Kerrigan). Still plenty of kids tho who want your stuff tho.
Oh and detsub, rock rock on!

Oh and a pager alarm wouldnt be something I could install on my own would it?

Just out of curiosity, where in the NW do you live?  Anyways, I live the same region but I am in an area that isn't as prone to crime as some.  Anyways if you could give me some info. on what you drive and how your car is setup I can give you some tips.  For example I drive an '88 RX-7 and I was paranoid as hell about my soundsystem.  I had some pros down at my local high-end stereo store build a box that matches the carpet in my car perfectly and it looks like a natural bump in back of my hatch.  I had them put what is called grill cloth over the subs and so all there is a black cover over where the subs are.  The Amp is mounted behind passenger seat and I always remove the face to my deck.  Fortunately my car came with a stock alarm and it isn't one of those "police siren" type alarms.  It just honks the horn repeatedly and people definitely do pay attention to that.  IMHO the only sure-fire way to protect yourself is to get the thing insured.  Most car insurance companies give you an option to insure everything in your vehicle (you specify the value).  So it all depends on how far you want to go.  You are definitely doing the right thing by not putting stickers in your windows.  That is just an open invitation to a smashed window.

That is about as secure as it gets without an alarm or some kind of added insurance protection.  The main thing is to keep your car locked at all times and keep everything out of sight (nothing that catches the eye should be in sight).

install on your own is not that hard. you hae to mess with alot of wires, creating new fuseible links, running wires, drilling holes in the firewall, working in tight spaces, yada yada yada. depends on how complicated the set up is, and how complicated your car is (ie does it have factory anti theft?)

if you do venture on this endevour here is a site that may help you with the factory wire colours.

word of advice from a person that actully just did this to his own car a few weeks ago, if your car has a SRS system (Airbags) keep the fuck away from those wires. you are not fucking with a x box here, cut/probe the wrong wire and then BANG you have yourself a big exspensive mess to clean up!

Are those pagr alarms worth it? Say your in your office building, and it goes off. Are you gonna have time to run down stairs, into the parking garage, find your car (did I park in A or D?), and tell the burglar to screw off before he grabs the goods and goes? Just wondering cause  was gonna get one, but then I was thinking if I was in class, and it went off... then I'd have no time to get there...
