It's not bad because Mazda and Ford have ties. It's wrong because you kill the weight balance on a car that handles fairly well. I'd have just as much issue with a Ford V8 under the hood. As a Mazda Purist I hate to see rotaries swapped oout. But due to reliality issues I can see some people taking the trade off. And LT1 is a GREAT engine and would be my first V8 choice to dump into an RX7.

I don't care for body kits (not that I'd put one on my 94 GMC Jimmy  ) but I *am* swapping my engine out for a Corvette 350 somewhere down the road...

just to reply in this somewhat old ass thread, it's a neon, get a different car before you get the body kit.  even if you buy a kit for $800-1000 you could have bought something like a z34 lumina or a cutlass supreme with 3.1-3.4l engines in them that will be stock better off for power than your little ass neon tin can. hell the lumina z34s would even look a hell of a lot cooler without the need for a body kit, so you'd be getting looks, style, and power all off the same purchase.
i really dispise neons and sure there are tons of other options than the 2 i just mentioned, but i know that around here you can get those 2 fairly cheap and there aren't millions of people driving them like there are neons, plus you'll be in a safer car.
