Cars You Have Owned
« on: June 27, 2004, 10:38:00 PM »

Haven't done a single performance mod to any car that I have owned.  Anyways:

1. 1988 Dodge Colt ohmy.gif  (hey I had to start somewhere, right)

2. 1992 MX-3.  Turned out to be a fucking disaster and the car started falling apart.  Was overjoyed when a guy with a utility truck backed into me and totaled the car.

3. Used the insurance money to buy a 1988 RX-7 GXL (N/A).  Yeah, it's not the quickest car on the road but the guy babied the thing (at least as far as the mechanical aspects are concerned) and it had very low milage for the year.  I haven't done any mods to it as I would like to save that for my 3rd Generation RX-7 (whenever I get one). wink.gif

Let's do the list (All of the wretched things)

1986 Ford Taurus

1986 Chevy Cavalier

1992 Ford Taurus

1989 Ford Ranger

Current......

1993 Ford PGT
"Some" mods
Search KLZE if you care and youll pop up the post. I'm not rewriting it.  wink.gif

1987 Chevy Sprint Turbo
(Smallest Displacement car in this forum)
Also has some "Ghetto" mods

1986 Chevy Camaro
"Some" engine
A cookie to whoever can tell me the 86 engine option that yields over 500/500 rwhp and trq.

since im lazy.....
QUOTE
EvilWays, you need smaller displacement.
You need to find a Chevy Sprint Turbo.
1.0L of fury out of an inline 3
That equates to a whopping 70 hp and 107 ft/lbs of torque
Also makes a guest appearance in Bad Boys 2 as well.
Mines not white like that one though.

Oh right, and the Probe.
93 PGT
oh right, Probe GT for those not down with the l337 Probe slang.
I've done.... "Some stuff" to it

Anyone wanna learn how to spend 4 times what a car is worth on it in upgrades? I could be your new hero.

QUOTE
Reliability..........

Still wouldn't stop me from owning one though
I'm just far more knowledgable when it comes to the Non rotary engines. That's all. Mostly because I got involved in them due to my car.

For example, embedded nder the hood of my car is the Mazda 2.5 L V6 KLZE.
Stock would be the 2.5L V6 KL03
The ZE was availavle in J spec Mazda MX6 LSs, which are mechanically identical to Probe GTs in most ways.
The differences between the 2 engines are the Ze has.....
Higher compression 10:1
Better flowing heads and Intake Manifold
More agressive cams

This creates a 200 hp engine instead of the 164 hp engine. The power band has also shifted higher into the RPM range, along with a much nicer torque curve.

From there you find even higher compression pistons. (Cuz Lord, knows 10:1 wasn't nearly good enough.)
The you have the cams reground
Shim the oil pump as cylinder 6 has oil starvation issues
Port the heads
Port the IM
Add a 67mm TB
upgraded fuel rails/injectors/pump

Then we start adding bolt on stuff
PRM CAI
Hot Shot gen IV headers
Jeff Jeske Testpipe
Custum Stainless exhaust from there back (2.75")
Unorhodox UD Pulley
VRTuner, (To get the VRIS points in the IM correct)

Then a few guages to watch stuff
Autometer A/F with switch to switch from the front bank to the rear (The Ze likes to lean out )
Autometer Oil pressure, ( Fucking #6)
Autometer Fuel Pressure
Autometer EGT
Autometer Voltage (Stereo can take it's toll)
Autometer Tach (Mine's horribly innacurate)

Let's not even get into tires, suspension, etc

All this equates to driving in something that's loud as fuck, gives the feel of a fighter jet cockpit, and that has caught a V8 or 2 by suprise.

Honesly I would be happier with a B6T engine or F2T, but I have what I have.

There's the stats on the 2 cars I know something about.  rolleyes.gif
And I can see at least 3-4 engine mods I didnt list on the Probe. Man, that could have bought a lot of lap dances wink.gif

First car was an '88 Honda Prelude Si.
Installed an air intake my self, nice plug wires and a decent Brospeed exaust system (cat back, well... where the cat shoulda been  tongue.gif )

Next car was a 1991 Isuzu Impulse XS, very impressive car, 1.6 DOHC with 145 HP. It would smoke anyone of those stupid kids with civics and mine was damn near stock except for a few little things. Crashed that car in the rain, Liked it so much though that I went out and bought another one. The second impulse was not in as good of shape and it only lasted a year.

At the moment my fiance and I have a 2004 Ion-3 quad coupe, 5 speed, fully loaded, that we just got today. I think this car really has some potential; 2.2L ecotec 140 hp 145 lb-feet of torque andthere are quite a few after market body parts and engine upgrades. Hell just look at the redline version at Saturn.

I also own a 1987 rx7 GXL that I want to put a new 13B-REW '93+ turbo motor in but that's my long term project. I'll post updates on it when I get a few more things goin'. It's hard to fix up a car when you gotta pay for one already.
And as for the chev heads puttin' big blocks in 7s, STOP!
The car was designed with a near perfect 51/49 weight displacement. The motor I have planned for order (some time) is rated at 265 hp 222 lbs-feet of torque.
And remeber that It has 1.3 L of displacement and a major weight advantage, not to mention a redline of 9,000 RPM with proper tuning.

See you at the strip.

True but a 3-rotor twin-turbo will seriously give a V-8 a run for it's money.   wink.gif

that is if you can find a 3 rotor to import and can afford the cost.

I agree that they are tough to find but you can find some places in the US with one or two in stock. wink.gif

I know alot aobut Camaros, I live them, I breathe them, I eat them for breakfast lunch and dinner and Ia hve NEVER heard of that option nor can I find anything on the web about it.  So unless u did a motor swap or can provide a link with the information about the engine code I'm gonna have to call your bluff.

it may have had an engine swap before i got it I suppose. I don't know much about it, execpt what the dyno tells me. Never been overly knowledgable about Chevy V8s. It's in storage but at the end of the month Im heading that way for the forest rally. Thoughts oin what to look for that might be condusive in telling me what the hell it is. Cuz I have no idea honestly.
