Rice Vs. Power
« on: March 21, 2004, 04:22:00 PM »

Well since I favor import cars, buying a muscle car was out of the question, and most imports don't have the HP or low end torque to keep up with the demon's of the street which is why most guys just rice out their cars.  If I had the money though at the moment, I would definitly invest into my engine instead of sticking a kit or a two tier batman wing.  But they sure are pretty if done right so I'm gonna go with the best of both worlds.

Note: Yes I know even if you add all the engine mods to a Civic it is still not as fast as a v8 Mustang...

I've gone from a 240SX to a TransAm and finally a BMW, and everywhere in between.

You'll never be more satisfied than buying a stock car, and never having to fix it or make any changes for it to be fast!

Muscles cars for me.  Mmm, a 1970 Chevelle SS with a 454 cubic inch V8 LS-6 powerplant sure would be nice right about now.  That or a 1971 Plymouth 'Cuda with a 426 cubic inch Hemi V8.  When talking about muscle cars, two liters of displacement refers only to soda.  But hey, if replacing your muffler with a coffee can displays your ricer car prowess, then by all means, continue to make frivolous modifications to your Civics.   tongue.gif

I love most cars. But I prefer speed. Though a WELL kitted car is nice as well. But be it a built 2L I4 or a 5.7L V8, speed is speed. And ANY car can be made fast.

I like muscle cars, but most are heavy and can't corner for shit. I prefer chewing up corners, rotors glowing blue, shifting down, shifting up. Fun fun stuff.

Giving up on a car's speed because of engine size is ignorant. One of my cars has a 1L engine. And it's still capable of running with cars that have over 3x the displacement.

And for some of us driving a stock car will never been an option. They become an addiction. Sure it's fast, but how can I make it faster. It's never enough. Never. It becomes a sickness. Ask my gf. Look under the hoods of my cars. Look at the tools in half my kitchen drawers. (So a friend was looking for a spoon and finds a torque wrench in th same drawer   blink.gif  ) Two engines in pieces in my storage room. My friend's rebuilding a car 3 hours away. Can I come? Sure Ill take the week off. I should have just stuck with my bikes. Those were expensive enough.  dry.gif

For sure.  Every day you are thinking on what next to do.  Just waiting for the paycheck to come in so you can buy some more polish for the strut bar  tongue.gif

I will admit, what you said is very true.  It's all about the power to weight ratio.  wink.gif

True Dat. I drive a 1987 Chevy Sprint turbo. 70hp. 107 ft/lbs of torque. And yet the damn thing is faster then any civic in sotck form. I guess weighing in at 1500 pounds helps.

Well obviously.  A stock Civic depending on the year is between 105 and 115 HP isn't it?  Take in the weight ratio and both cars are approxamitly the same.  But as I have found out, no matter what your car is, either a Porsche or Civic, its the way you drive it.  Someone who has skills driving the Civic can still beat a n00b in a porsche.

I don't think a probe could beat a 300ZX with no one even driving it.

Sadly, there are chimps that can drive better then the 300ZX's driver. He does not deserve a car so cool. My Probe isn't exactly stock either.  rolleyes.gif

YES!!! True ricer philosphy. My car isn't stock guys. It has LED wiper nozzles, an aluminum wing for aerodynamics, an APC muffler, and a shirter shifter knob....  laugh.gif

Sorry, My car is far from stock. I'm not claiming a 12 second quarter mile guys. I run low 14's withoyut any problems. Sadly that's enough to beat a poorly driven 300ZX. I'm not claiming my car is faster. Merely that I'm a better driver.

i'd rather ride in a v8 mustang than some import piece of crap,  a 4 banger sucks compared to almost at v8 and many v6's, I'd rahter have an engine that roars than one that sings sounds soprano, basically what i am saying is ricers suck
