I think the getting arrested on the spot thing depends on the state.

I'm up in New Hampshire. my brother was pulled over for doing 110MPH (in my father's Z06) on a highway ramp (the ramp's speed limit was 35 and the section of highway was 45).

He got a ticket and a court date but not arrested. Not only that he talked his way out of the ticket with the judge!

Back when I was in college I got my S351 Saleen Mustang up to 155mph, and there was still a little throttle left but I had to slow down for a curve in the highway. I rolled the windows down at about 145 and the air rushing in made my eardrums pop. The ride got smoother the faster I went, and it felt like the car was an inch off the ground, from the down-force.

I sure miss that car. I sold it before I got married. Just the insurance was as much as a car payment.
