Many Japanese engines are designed with turbo.
The Nissan r34 skyline engine is twin turbo stock.
You can't just say take away your turbo, how about then we say you can only have a v4?

Same idea, you're limiting what the engine was designed for.
Course the skyline might have better handling also...but that's a whole different story

...but this is my point... the v8 cars are more powerful...

and yes your right about the handling..

You don't factor in gas usage if you're saying that.
The skyline is a prime example of good engineering.

Why get something so heavy?

modern day muscle cars are far from inefficient. you only have a select breed of cars you can brag about. mainly the skyline and the supra. both pushing $60k + price tags new. a 96 tt supra still goes for $30k in decent shape. if you want tp compare those cars be prepared to go against vipers, vettes, saleens, ligenfelters, exotics etc...
an 03 cobra comes stock with 390fwhp hp. they actually dyno 360-370 rwhp which puts that 390 to more like 430fwhp. do you know how much ground your cute little 4 cylinder has to make up to even consider catching up? that car is also only $34k brand new. your top end wrx and lancer is approx. $28-30K.
dont compare a 1,000 hp v6, cause i can come back at you with a 5,000+ hp drag car

when it comes to best bang for the buck, and most easily modified the v8 is always gonna be on top. imorts can be made fast, but wrx's sure like to break those awd trannys. the last 3 times ive been at the track theres been at least one that broke cause of tranny failure.

i drag race all the time, and get sick of the whole ricer "fast and the furious scene". its way out of hand with too many misinformed ricers.
me personally i dont like old muscle cars, i like new modern muscle.

and dont come back with the good ol' hp per liter saying if a mustang was as efficient as a ricer car it would be 500+hp stock.
cause if all cars were as efficient as a yamaha r1 that makes 150hp per liter then the s2000 would be 300hp.
lets not forget about torque either? imports have none, which is why they need turbos, and awd vehicles. you ricers have no idea what your missing till you drive something with "TORQUE"

last time I checked, fast off the line is the only aspect relevant to this discussion. No one will ever argue the handling of cars with a shorter wheelbase and a lighter curb weight. Better handling doesn't really apply to the typical street race which involves point A to point B in a completely straight line.

As far as gas mileage is concerned, is that also relevant to a street race? Last time I caught an NHRA event it wasn't Audi 's and Subaru's either. I have much respect for 'foreign' cars; most are engineering marvels - that much HP out of such a small block is amazing. But while Japan and Europe may own the circuits in the professional world, with the exception of exoctic supercars, America owns the quarter mile.

how much is an s4? ill take a saleen s281 extreme anyday. comes STOCK with 450 hp and can easily outhandle your cute audi.
the 03 cobra blocks are rated at 1,000hp. its very easily modified. forged steel crank, 4v per cylinder, manley h-beam rods, etc....
put 450hp on that audi. not designed for it = KABOOM... and there goes your warranty too

You guys are compairing apples and bananas. Muscle cars and four bangers are a totaly differant types of cars. We all have prefrences, lets just see that and stop the bickering. I'm not a huge fan of muscle cars, but you don't see slammin on them. Plus when you talk about hoespower on an import, most of the HP comes at very high RPM's. Take the Honda S2000, the HP tops out like at 7300 RPM, whats up with that.... As opposed to V-8's are have a lot of torque which translates into more power at lower ends of the power band

i dont get involved till importers bash muscle... thats nonsense...
this new fast and the furious generation is out of hand...
remember torque is what makes you move. low end torque is alot better then high end hp.
take the 96-01 cobra for example. makes 305 (96-98) and 320 (99-01) hp and can be reved to 7k rpm. it does lack a little down low in the torque department though.
THATS THE BEAUTY OF REAR WHEEL DRIVE CARS. change out the rearend. put in some 4.10's or 4.30's and WHOOLAH all the low end torque you could need with the high rpm hp.
ligenfelter and saleen make muscle cars handle, but thats where classes come in. youll never see either one in the same class.
the argument is never ending and insane. disrespect is the biggest thing the whole ricer scene has brought. they cant even appreciate each others cars. they flood the street races by my house and ruin the whole scene. they dont race, they show off their strobe headlights, bump their system, and show off their air ride.
