V1.1 Xbox, Having Power Problems.
« on: November 11, 2005, 06:06:00 PM »

I've had my Xbox for about.. hmm, 3 years now I guess. It's been modded for half that time with a Xenium and until now has never given me grief. However it's started doing things, and my only conclusion is that it's either the Power Cord ( Which is doubtful because it's happened with the 3 I tested it with. ), and two prong power socket in the Xbox itself.

The majority of my day is spent using my Xbox for something or other, using XMBC to watch programs.. playing games. I don't want my Xbox to die.

It just happened one day, the Xbox hadn't been moved, I never keep it plugged in when not in use, it just suddenly started showing some kind of distortion on the screen.. usually diagonal moving lines or flickery white lines that flail across the screen, which makes watching the TV with my Xbox very unpleasant and annoying.
I can temporarily stop the white flickering, but not the Diagonal lines by making sure the power cord is properly in the Xbox. It comes loose very easily, I'm not very good with Soldering or anything like that, but if it's only a small job I'm sure I can manage... Does anyone know what's wrong with my console?, I want to get it fixed as soon as possible.

I also found this thread http://forums.xbox-scene.com/lofiversion/i...hp/t361537.html , I think that if I reinforce the solder on those two points it'll fix it, I'm going to be doing this tommorow.. so if anyone can correct me incase I'm just going to make it worse, PLEASE help me.
