Diy 128mb Ram Upgrade
« on: November 11, 2005, 10:33:00 AM »

main info for this procedure found on this site:
http://www.xbox-linux.org/wiki/Upgrading_Xbox_RAM_HOWTO

if you want to run linux on the Xbox this is a must !!!

it does dramatically improve performance with linux.

I followed the procedure as outlined, but found a few things that make the procedure allot easier.

use a really small solder iron low power rating "12W AntexModel M"
The tip was 1mm.

tape the chips in place

get a flux pen.

with the flux reflow the existing solder on the pads, to make the connections.
I had only 3 OC pins, and 1 SC pin.

I only had a X4 lense for viewing and refret not having a more powerful setup.

1/2 a day to complete and validate the job.

Okay, thanks?  Wrong forum, so I'll report it for a move.  But, sounds like good info.
