I am getting an old 1.0/1.1 xbox from a friend.  The only problem is that it gives frequet DDEs, so I assume it's an old Tompson that's gone to shit.

I would like to hack myself one of those LG GDR-8163B drives.  Problem is, I have found several different versions, such as the GDR-8163RBB.  Is this compatiable?  I've also come across the GDR-8164B.  This seems a bit more common, is it also compatable, or is only the GDR-8163B?

Last of all, I came across this HP one with the same model number.  Is this the same drive, just HP branded?

Finally, a painting question; if I can't get a black one, is it possible, or adivsable, to paint the tray black, and not have it chip under normal usage?
