Xbox Overheating?
« on: October 30, 2005, 06:57:00 PM »

Hi,
Right I've had a problem with my X-box of late I have been playing a game or watching an AVI and the image freezes and I can't do anything. If I restart it the xbox, much like a FRAG, boots 3 times and then flashes red and orange. After leaving it for a few mins I can boot back in fine although the problem will repeat if I start playing again. I have checked the CPU heat (after the enforced break) and it was about 52 and rising. Have I got an over heating problem? If so what apart from cleaning the HS can I do? Is it worth replacing the thermal paste with something better like Artic silver? Upgrade the fan on the back to a higher airflow fan? What is the stock fans airflow rating. I'd prefer it not to add to the noise level.
Cheers
-How.
