Wrong. Softmods require a locked HD to do anything, as the original BIOS is loaded on startup, which requires the HD to be locked. Then, NKPatcher or PBL is loaded to allow you to run unsigned code.

If you want to get your mates hdd working, it needs to be locked with a password that your xbox recognises, eg the retail hdd. If your mate can get a copy of your eeprom, then lock the drive using his eeprom, you can then transfer it into your xbox.

Sorry can't edit for some reason.

I just tried "partition table doctor 3.0" and it says the drive isn't accessible. So i booted up xboxhdm. It said the drive was locked and options 1-5 were disabled. I tried unlocking and it didnt give me the status. I tried locking and it said drive is locked, unlock first.

What is going on? I've put it into my xbox again and i still get error 6?? I really would like to use this for either my computer or xbox.
