Where Can I Buy An Eeprom Reader - Uk
« on: October 07, 2005, 06:58:00 AM »

Does anyone know of a place I can buy an EEPROM reader for my PC, within or shipping to the uk?

I intend to use it to read the HDD password from the EEPROM of my dead Xbox (v1.0) so that I can unlock my Western Digital 250gb drive.

Thanks

Maxking at doncaster. Loads on ebay as well. I got a willem 2 from ebay as it flashes everything else going as well. Most cheap eeprom programmers will flash and read the eeprom in the Xbox. You will ahve to adapt it a bit though so as to fit the SMD component.
I just use clips

Exactly what you need.  Now you just need to know which pins to hook it up to on the Xbox chip.

thanks for your help will order this or similar over the weekend.

was wondering which was easier:
1. desoldering the eeprom from the dead board and plugging it into the programmer (will it just plug straight in?).
or
2. using the leads whilst leaving it on the board.
