Troubles With Hot Swapping
« on: October 03, 2005, 11:42:00 PM »

I tried a softmod once and attempted using a font hack after gaining FTP access to make the hack permanent. Needless to say, this was my first attempt at such hack so I botched it. Luckily the hard drive was able to boot into my box using one of those Xbox Interactive Refresh discs, so the hard drive would unlock and never reach an error screen. This was fine and dandy. Then I tried using xboxhdm to recreate the whole hard drive as much of it was messed up. Now I can't seem to get the hard drive to be recognized when I try to boot from the Linux xboxhdm disc. It seems like the hard drive may be screwed up and un-unlockable, but when I boot to the dashboard (or attempt to), it gives me an error 21, not the error 7 (which I believe is the "hard drive cannot be unlocked" error). Does anyone have any ideas? Any good ways to brute force access into a drive to totally reset it? Thanks for any help.
