This Pinned Topic has become an invaluable resource for me.  It has network help, skins help, ... most everything you want to know about XBMC.

actually XBMC has a nice fan control system, it lets you set the temperature you want to keep it and it adjusts the fan speed accordingly, i set mine to 148, kinda high, but it keeps the fan quiet and xbox running smoothly

Good call LordVader.  I just realized something.  Most of my LEDs in my box run off of the fan power.  Using this automatic fan control, I can have a visual indicator of how hot my xbox is.  Sweet!

For a full list of what xbmc can do, check This Info Page for details.

However, this page is a bit outdated, so always read the changelog.txt and readme1st.txt when a new build comes out. There hasn't been a straight update to xbmc, more of fixing minor niggles and building on current technologies, there is now dvd support, but as always, it is still in the teething stage.

- Soz i havent been around lately, been away!

Thats the only thing I would add to it for myself. Other than that the xbox can do everything w/ XBMC+Avalaunch+DVDx2. H

I believe he means DVDx2, the dongle-free DVD player, but XBMC does that as well. Now that XBMC handles menus, I think you never need to exit XBMC... Except maybe some web browsing, which is being taken care of by a Linksboks-XBMC hybrid some people are building smile.gif

Just wanted to know some specs for the PC side of current setups that people are using.  CPU speed, memory, etc.

i stream from a dedicated server running windows xp, celeron 1.2ghz, 128mb ram

i can also stream from my p4 2.0ghz 512mb ram with no noticable lag (ive burned dvds while watching movies)

ive also used a p3 550mhz, 128mb ram, not sure of lag, never tried to use this pc while streaming
