Problem With Xbox...?
« on: August 28, 2005, 04:40:00 PM »

Ok I have a v1.0 xbox with a xecuter 2.2 pro chip installed and just recently the xbox when turned on with the modchip enabled has a slow/freezing/cutting animation at the beginning and the eject light is flashing green during this time, then it goes to avalaunch ok and no more flashing eject light and everything works perfectly. If I try to turn on with the modchip disabled it boots to the "Your xbox needs servicing" screen. What is wrong with it? Thanks.

Any error code displayed when you boot with chip off? Not sure why it would be flashing green, but after you boot up with chip on, ftp into E:/cache, and delete it's contents. Do the same with x, y and z partitions, reboot and see if it boots up any faster, if there is a code being displayed with chip off on boot up, let us know it.

My friend's Xbox did this same behavior a while back. When I opened his Xbox, it turned out that the IDE cable wasn't plugged in fully to the DVD drive. Likewise, maybe your Xbox only has a loose cable connection  smile.gif

Oh yea, I don't have the dvd rom plugged in right now because I'm getting a new one... is it bad to have the xbox running with nothing plugged into that ide cable?

As far as I know, it's not "bad", it's just that you won't be able to use the xbox...

No, it's not. Booting without a DVD drive will only make startup a little laggy.

That's what my friend thought, too.
