You will lose a little quality using a low-end passive switch.
I used a Sima which was excellent, had automatic input selection, or by remote, or by buttons on panel, with composite -> S-video conversion and volume stabilization. You should be able to find one for $100 but it's worth it. Model is SVS-4.
