Xbox Will Not Turn Off
« on: August 24, 2005, 02:55:00 PM »

I'm having one annoying problem with my xbox that I modded with duox2, the xbox will not shut off, it's like the power switch is stuck on on.  I have to pull the plug in order to turn the system off.  I thought it was the power switch, so I tried another switch from another xbox, but it didn't fix it.  I tried shutting off through the evox dashboard, but instead of shutting off it restarts.  Anyone know what the problem might be?  Soldering points touching or something?  I looked on the board and they seem ok, but maybe I am missing something....  Thanks in advance

Make sure you have the BT soldered to the correct point and there are no strands or splashes. Also did you remove the two pins on the pin socket before soldering onto the Duox2 board?

Im having the same problem right now. just modded a 1.2 and a 1.7 with duox2 cromwell edition chips. the 1.2 went perfect, but the 1.7 will not respond to the power button. I also used a PCB rebuild board on the 1.7. I used the diagram for a 1.6b for the install, but i believe everything is still in the same place on the 1.7.

I also swapped power buttons, checked all solder points, ect, but what gets me is that even after i pull my chip, my xbox still wont respond.

found my problem.... still using the pcb board.

what i had done was use the only pin on the pin header that does not need to be soldered to the chip for a d0 point, I bridged the d0 point on the bottom of my motherboard to this pin for convenient access from the top of my chip.
without the PCB rebuild board i would have just ran the wire through an empty hole. After unsoldering everything i noticed there is actually something connected to that pin hole.

I guess I should have paid more attention before taking the shortcut!!!

To wrap it up....i got it all back together and so far everything looks great.
