I then upgraded the XBox with an older IBM Deskstar 60GXP, 40 Gb, 7200 RPM, 2Mb Cache,  which was successfully locked with Config Magic.

I would just stay away from OEM drives.

OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. When an item is an OEM version, it means that the item is sent to where it's being sold without logo-branded packaging, and may contain less documentation and software than the retail version.

There is no differance in hardware at all, you just save yourself a few £££'s from not getting a fancy box and maybe a driver CD, Cable or Manuals. But as we're talking HDDs none of those things matter.

Also for OEM software the company sometimes won't provide you with technical support.

Sorry I know its off topic, but I laughed at this. Like a manufacturer will support you in installing their drive in an XBOX ;-)

the support is here always the same because our local rights say so.
btw. you have anyways at first to go to your dealer where you bought the drive
(in german you have 2 years of guarante from your dealer, even if the manufacturer
gives only 1 year !)

have fun  biggrin.gif

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

btw. for those with "?" at their post ...

just send me the full specs (rpm, buffer, program, size and especially the FULL MODEL type
(wrong: ibm desktar 75 ... right: ibm dtla 307075 i.e.) as

FORUM PM --> NOT HERE AT THE FORUM AGAIN PLEASE !!! THANKS !!!

and i will update the list ...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i will also update the list when specs are missing but the model type is avaible,
but only when i've got time to look at the manufacturer pages some time

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

list colours:

green = specs complete
yellow = program missing
red = no model type
