New Ethernet Card?
« on: August 20, 2005, 04:56:00 PM »

My friend might buy a xbox on ebay, but the ethernet card doesn't work.   Can you put in a new card? (it does use an ethernet card, doesnt it, if not what does it use?)

Well, there are no cards... all components are on the motherboard... if the only problem were the port, it could be desoldered and replaced, anything else would be something on the board and more difficult to fix since it's not a very common repair so there isn't much (possibly any) tutorials on it.

If you want it for linux, a usb to ethernet adapter would work if you made a usb to xbox proprietary controller plug adapter, but this would have to be one supported with drivers in linuz, and it would be limited to usb 1.1 speed of 12mbps (possibly 1.5, but i'm pretty sure it's 12)
