Would This Dvd Player Be Able To Get Xbox Output
« on: July 23, 2005, 12:43:00 AM »

Hi,

I was searching through ebay, not neccessarilly for a dvd player but stumbled across this.
Yes its a cheapie dvd player, but take a look, it has VGA output. This could be a very cheap alternative to the XVGA but is larger in size obviously, but can play DVD'd (so can xbox) and also its a dvd player sooooo it can be taken other places when you dont need your xbox and remote etc.

Just thought id post it here as maybe inside the VGA is a different component and might be easy to dissasemble and make a small custom case for it by itself.

who knows though.

any way check it out
DVD player with VGA

And its AUSSIE EbaY

Sorry but I am a bit confused, you want to use this to bridge your xbox with a VGA monitor?

It has no inputs so you can not do that.

Would you think this would be hard, could you just hook to rca plugs into the vga, im assuming that the vga out has 6 wires running to it, 2 for each video and R + L audio.

well it wouldnt be any problem if the horozontal and vertical sync didnt exist.

if you want it to work like a conveter, you would have to hopew that the way it processes the video signal is like this:

CODE

      INPUT
  |           |
  |           |
  |     VGA Convesion
  |                         |
  |                         |
x.video output            |
                            |
                         VGA Out

if it does, and you can find the point before it gets converted into vga signal, then it will be easy. other wise, it probably can be done

It's easier to just make your own VGA cable for the xbox...

Generally, yes... There's some changes you can do to nkpatcher as well.  Or you could build ken gaspar's component-vga converter.

ok, ignore my last post. i just talked to dad, and the biggest problem is that you need to generate the horizontal and vertical sync.

basically you need to pay aroudn 100 buck to get a box that will generate this signal. i sent jaycar an emaila botu it, to see what they offer, but its not the sort of thing that you'd make yourself.
