The bundles have v1.0 machines, not v1.1.

What's not to understand?

This has been verified and people are already succesfully modifying them.

Check the threads for the success stories.

As of Sept 18 manufacturing dates (which means all current Xbox stock in U.S. Stores) no V1.1 machines have hit the shores yet.

Most of these seem to have originated in Asia, versus our Mexican Xboxes.

I got the bundle pack a couple of days ago and my x-box was manufactured October 3rd 2002. Kernel version is still 4034. I havent opened it yet, im still waiting on my chip. I can confirm that the drive doesn't play any of my audio cdrs but did play an audio cdrw. I dont think anything has changed in these boxes. I'll update you guys as soon as i get my chip.

You can see if it is Philips or RCA by:

Checking the hole in the drive tray. If it is a perfect U, it is RCA, and if it is like a lightbulb, it is Philips.

I've never heard of RCA drives being in the x-box. Just heard about Philips and Thompson. Is Thompson the same as RCA or are the RCA drives new? My x-box was manufactured October 3rd 2002 and it has a U shaped hole in the drive tray, not a lightbulb shaped. I'll borrow a hex wrench from my friend tomorrow so i can get the x-box open and confirm things.

Just got my XBox dated 7-19-2002. Thompson drive *sigh*. My old XBox's Thompson drive died, so I had to buy a new XBox. Modded the new XBox with Matrix and it works fine. I just wish I had gotten a Phillips instead.

Anyone know where I can buy a replacement drive for the XBox?

I've checked everywhere, Google, Yahoo, Lycos, Metanews, and every known Modchip vendor out there. The only site I ever saw that had the XBox DVD drive is a company in England and they're out of stock with no ETA.

I think we're SOL

Just got back from Best Buy here in Frisco/Plano, Texas.

All bundles are Lot: 236 dated 9/11/2002 - 9/12/2002. I don't know about kernel version though.

I'm going to wait for my matrix mods to get in (monday I hope). and then pick one up, or maybe pick it up this weekend.

BTW, you need a TORX bit to open the xbox, not a Hex bit.

Anybody buy the new bundles with the sega games yet?

are they the original modes or the new v1.1 models?

tnx...

Just received my bundle, I can confirm

August 18th 2002
Kernel 4034
SAMSUNG SDG-605
GPU fan

The Samsung WILL work with CDR, plays games and music burnt onto them. Used the cheapest CDR I can find works great.

They are 1.0 boxes. Modchips work great in them, running Matrix on mine now.

Only downy was I was going to sell the games on Half.com figuring there was two games figured I'd get $50. They are in the same physical box. But still well worth the purchase.
