Hello.  I am a first time user of this forum, but have read many posts and threads for help in the past.  I would appreciate any ideas.  

I have two xbox's that are modded and have replaced the DVD ROM's in both with Samsung 616T's without a problem.  I use X3 CE and EVOX.

I just modded my new v1.6 xbox with X3 CE, new Xapt3r solderless, and installed evox using an iso disc and the original LG 805 drive that came with the box.  No problems here.  

I bought a plug n play LG GDR 8163B DRIVE and installed it as I have the Samsung drives before.  When the EVOX dashboard loads, it won't recognize what the drive is doing.  It will open fine but after I load My original XBOX game disc in, the drive won't read the disc or "Launch DVD".  I also found out it wouldn't eject the disc.  But, when i power it off, which takes a few seconds longer than normal, with the disc still in and restart it, the xbox will load the game.

I have tried reflashing bios to the X3 and reinstalling EVOX with no success.  

The Xbox otherwise works fine and navigates without problems.

did you even flash the lg? if not dont ask how and use the hint written in my sig.!!
