Hey guys,
I'm trying to install a xbox hard drive that my friend gave me from one of his extra systems or something. But I don't have a modded xbox to unlock it or do anything, so how can I make it work as a hard drive with only my PC?

I've tryed reading the other topics on this but they confuse the fuck out of me so any help would be appreciated

It's possible, but you'll have to have the unlock key from the eeprom of the Xbox.
There is a tutorial about all this here somewhere.

Can I get this key if I don't have a xbox to plug the hard drive into?

no, not really.
If your friend can give you a copy of his eeprom then you can compute the key on your computer.

You need his HD lock key, which is on his EEProm. Tell him to make a backup of his EEProm then send it to you, the HD lock key is in HIS EEProm only.
