Xbox Development Kit
« on: June 20, 2005, 03:29:00 PM »

Ive seen a few pictures of xbox development kits in the past, i was wondering what all the additional hookups are and what they are used for. im figuring that 2 of them on the back are vga and usb but i do not know what that long one on the back is and what its use is. Other than those three are there any other output/input's?

Aside from the double ram, it has a USB port for programming the TSOP, a SCSI port, and a Serial port for communications (I guess).  It also has a sceondary IDE bus for the DVD drive, something we have always wanted.  Here's the best images / description I could find.  Have fun!!

the usb port has nothing to do with the tsop, llamma's site has a lot false information.

he says,
QUOTE
These happen to have the onboard USB bios flashing programmer

which is false.  Its a usb port, just like the ones up front for your controllers.

to add to that..
the scsi port connects to the XDK-DVD emu card (a pc card), which allows developers to layout their game and test performance without burning a ton of dvd's.  (oldengineer has one of these pictured on his site).
the serial port connects to a pc serial port for kernel debugging.
there isnt a 2nd ide bus, either...

oh wow i forgot i posted this, thanks for alot of useful information though. I have since ordered a dev kit top that was all scratched to hell so after i clean and paint her up imma just put a vga connector where the serial port is, 2 usb ports where usb is at (cut out of course so i dont have to open case to use), dunno what else imma put in other slot though sad.gif any ideas of something useful that would fit.
