hello everyone, thanks for taking time out to look at my post. I am in desperate need of help, I have 2 xbox's i promised to mod for people by tomorrow and they're both not working now. The first one I used the SC exploit to install evox, but then tried installing slayer's auto-installer 2.6 and evidently erased something and ended up getting error 21, then error 14.

Oh dear you are probably looking at a proper modchip

if they were older xbox's then a solderless mod would get ya out the crap and help rebuild the h/d's and lock the unlocked one

yes you could fit a spider to a 1.6 but the solderless spider is more hassle on a 1.6 than an earlier xbox which would only need the D0 wire in place to boot/fix the xbox
when you slayer'd the first one then I would guess it put say an older dash like 4920 on it and a was a recent xbox that didn't like/work with 4920 on the ms bios - the ms bios coz you would of wiped/formatted perhaps the whole h/d or C partition perhaps

the second one should never been unlocked - you know that now but you will need the eeprom lockcode to relock the drive

if you could relock the 2nd one and get that going again you could "hotswap" the first h/d after it has booted up to dash error and then rebuild the correct/recent ms dash using the 2nd xbox but you would need that 2nd one fixed

it's the 2nd unlocked xbox that is more of the problem and would need a mod - even a temp mod on there to relock it if you don't have the hd key
yes if the 2nd xbox was a 1.6 you can fit a solderless mod on there but plenty peeps have problems with 1.6's & solderless mods than the other earlier ones

The first xbox can be fixed on almost any other modded xbox by the hotswap method

did you put the right hard back in the right box cause i got error six when playing around with hard drives and it was cause the eeprom didnt match the right box, any hopefully the first thing you did when you could ftp was saved the eeprom, as long as you have a chip in your box you can fix everything easily with the eeproms, or xboxhssm i hear will help you out too but you really need those eeproms

The first thing you should do is not mod boxes for anyone else if you don't know what to do. Hardmod softmod whatever

You could buy a new eeprom from the buy and sell. Get a programmer and Xectuer chip and embed the eeprom with the bios. Get a new Hd and install the chip and flash the eeprom to the board and lock the HD to that eeprom. Then he can go on live and have it modded and have a bigger HD.

This could give you extra time as well, just say, 'tell you what I'll upgrade your Hd for you but it will be an extra week' or something.

ok, so i managed to fix the first drive because i had a copy of the eeprom on my computer, i used an xboxhdm disc to recover it. the second one, i backed up the eeprom when it asks you to back it up when first installing evox but the eeprom backup is on the actual unlocked drive (E:\TEMP\data?) any idea how i might get access to it?

QUOTE(BrandNew @ Jun 6 2005, 09:13 PM)
the working xbox is definitely softmodded. installing apps and emus as we speak. should the unlocked hd work? i was told in another forum that if the eeprom is saved on the drive i should be able to access it with xboxhdm lockhd using the -f flag. anyone know where exactly evox puts the eeprom backup? something like lockhd -f dev\hda\c\???

well done

must say you was a tad fortunate about having the lock code or you would of needed a mod

still the hard way or a fuck up is a very good lesson learnt - btcha you won't be making the same mistake(s) again

well done anyway

Yes well done. You have recovered from a bad situation, one which not many could have recovered from. Good job, learn from your lesson and don't do it again.
