Running Multiple Xbox On Single Pc
« on: December 16, 2004, 08:24:00 PM »

question.

Is it possible to run multiple xbox's using the wrt54g kaifirmware upgrade?  I have used multi boxs using kai through the pc and launching through evox but am unable to using xbmc.

Just using one single xbox isn't that great cuz using a single tv for multiple players sucks.

any people that have had success in this it owuld be great to hear. running back and forth to the pc isn't all that as many of us know.

Check our forums - I think it's a common bug that will be fixed in the next release.

ya i have 2 xbox's running with the WRT .. it took a long time and ^S^ doesn't believe me that it works :]  you have to add the mac address's of both xbox's but what my problem is if i enter the mac's address's the "right" way it doesn't work ..

right way  11:11:11:11:11:11;22:22:22:22:22:22;    (it is 6 sets of 2 right? :] )

now if i enter one mac address in that format it works, either mac from either xbox and all is well , i can see/play games.

now if i enter 2 as pictured above the UI doesn't even load and if it does it won't go into arenas ... sooo i tried all kinds of stuff, until i went out on a limb and entered the mac addys like so

111111111111;222222222222;

and low and behold against all odds everything works, well except for the fact that no xbox's are detected in the UI ..

Well I don't see any point of you not telling the truth, and as you've been around for quite a while I have no troubble believing in you. Besides, people have even had trouble getting one Xbox connected to Kai with xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx; ...

I have the WRT54G kai setuop and i've played a game with 2 xbox hooked up to my router works great.  I didnt have to do anything to my second xbox...   just plug and play,    but of course we made sure we joined the same games.

DOS4GW .. ya i figured that out after you edited it  :]

three11 .. i did add a 3rd xbox to my network that worked "plug and play" as you say .. were you hosting a game or trying to join other peoples ?  i was hosting a game so i think thats why the 3rd xbox was ok because it was just seeing the other 2 xboxs on the local lan as if kai wasn't there .. i dunno .. all in the name of progress :]

good last point about hosting.. I can always use that instead.  looking at getting the wrt54g setup going and hopefully that will solve my multiple box woes through xbmc. we will see.

thanks for everyones input i'll stay up to date with the progress.

I setup my friend last night on his router and entering the mac this way  :

111111111111;222222222222;   did work!

multiple xboxs.  just launched one from xbmc and the second one followed the first straight from the game.

Unfortunaly I don't think that you can play two seperate games on one internet connection . the only way i know how to do that is to run two pcs.

Just to clear things up, the Kai orbitals will only communicate with each global IP address on one port.  If you want to run 2 routers, 2 PC's, a router and a PC or any combo of the above you must have a second routable IP address on the internet.  If you are on standard cable, dsl, dial-up or the like you most likely do not fit into this category.  Additional IP addresses are only assigned to those that request and, in most cases,  pay for them.  Many ISP's today will even require that you fill out a form to "prove" that you have a need for them since IPv4 addresses are being used up very quickly and IPv6 is still a far way away from global integration.
