Xlink From Xbmc

I sometimes think my setup is whacked cause it takes so long to find a game.  Last night it took me 10min to find a game of ghost recon 2 and only 1 game came up in the systemlink search.  Is this normal?

No, not if you entered an arena where games were played.

Well I did.
So I wonder what my issue is?

I've got 12/01 cvs release of xbmc

I have a router with port 3074 udp and tcp forwarded.
I have Kia configured as engine only with this port.
I have Auto detect NIC and lock selected.
I have allow connection from any IP.
I have never shutdown.
I have widows XP firewall configured to let port 3074 traffic through.
I can play xbox live.
I can see the rss feeds on my dashes.
I can play shoutcast on my xbox.
I can ftp to my xbox.
I can browse My PC from xbox over SMB or Wins.

The only funny thing is when I go to xbmc xlink no matter who I add to my friends list it they all say off line even when they are in the arean.  I dont know if that is becuase I am not on their friends list?

Press the blue (?) next time. Contacts appear as offline until they add you - privacy thing.

Change the portforward to 30000 UDP. Also, what game were you trying to play? Have you used teh PC UI on its own just to see who was playing and to ask whether a game was up?

Try uninstalling, deleting program files folder, re-downloading, re-installing..

You could also just have general problems with your PC, especially if you've been noticing other programs crashing and general instability with them.

Without you replicating the steps you took to get that message exactly, there's not much we can do here..

Often the problem you are reporting is caused by either old/outdated network card drivers or a setting in the kai control panel.  Check windows update or your network card vendor's website for a driver update and change the setting in the config utility from autodetect and lock to indicate the network card your xbox is connected to (or the hub/switch/router that's connected to the pc and xbox).

The other thing to note is that when you are in an arena, let's say Ghost Recon 2, there's a list of sub-arena's that are like private rooms where people are playing in addition to the people that are playing in the main Ghost Recon 2 arena.  Often times you'll find lots of people idle in the main arenas and only a few games up and running.  Once you get more familiar with the people that play on Kai you'll start to recognize the people that host certain games and the arenas or sub arenas that they play in.  Start to look in the sub arenas for games as well - often you'll find the larger games running in sub arenas to help reduce the amount of network traffic and lag being passed back and forth.
