Hey.

If your stright end has the following ISO: (Diagram)

White Orange
Orange
White Green
Blue
White Blue
Green
White Brown
Brown

Your crossed end should be:

White Green
Green
White Orange
Blue
White Blue
Orange
White Brown
Brown

You'd also need a RJ45 plug and a RJ45 tool for this.

Hehe, yes. It is probably more expensive to purchase a pack of RJ45 plugs and the tool than a brand new crossover cable.

Not including the time and effort needed to make the cable.

Just buy one, they're cheap!     ;)

I can make any length cable, straight or x-over in less than a minute.. what's so hard about that? If you want to turn a straight through into a x-over, just cut off one end and recrimp a new end on with the orange/green pairs reversed from the other end. So instead of starting Or-W/Or you start with Gr-W/Gr.

is it possible to cut in middle and just swap those two out?

cause they are not cheap here
best buy 22 bucks
that is not cheap
xbox ones 19.99
neither is that
so if you say yes on the swap em out in the middle ill do it and i do have a solder too

You don't need to recrimp anything, just cut in the middle and re-wire, don't even need to solder the wires, just tie'em up if you want to be gehtto cool and if you want to be pimpin' use some electrical tape!

Seriously though... you don't need to recrimp if you are desperate...

and finally... what the heck are you thinking buying a crossover cable at best buy? If you town has a best buy it surely has a million tiny little computer shops, walk into one and ask them to make you a cross over cable, they'll make you one for a couple of bucks I'm sure... plus there are people here on x-s in the B&S that'll do it cheaper then 20 bucks shipped!

OK i did that and it worked!! kinda
 the twisty tie thing
my colors matched teh one on the http://www.corelatus.com/gth/img2.png diagram but its not working right
im using halo to tsest it out and the system lnk option  highlkights then darken like it gets diconnected
keep in mind i did not solder  just twisted and taped the exposed wires .
 so its kinda a victory.
so the  question is WHAT DID I DO WRONG?

Get one from ebay, here: eBay.

Here is a crossed and stight with free shipping for 5.99$. I guess you'll need a stright one sooner or later as you've broken the old one... eBay

Lights off indicates no connection (hardware), meaning that your cable doesn't work. This is what happends when you listen to idiotic ideas about cutting the working cable in two, twisting the wires together.

Roar: What do you think will happen when he moves the wire or tripps in it? Not a good idea.
