Xlink & Linksys Wireless 4 Port
« on: April 11, 2004, 11:49:00 AM »

:uhh: any one get the linksys wireless B 4 port router working with xlink\boxlink?

I have forwarded the correct ports, pc is hardwired and xbox hard wired to the router with static ip's. xlink/boxlink seems to work fine but I can't seem to join or host any games. I can see all the rooms, if I host a game my xbox mac address shows up under local xbox under xlink. I do not get any errors, I have tried wincp 2.3, 3.0, 3.01, 3.1 uninstalling and reinstalling as per the tutorials.

At one point I was able to join a game of splinter2 but only in spectater mode??
When I join a room it shows all the rmote xbox in that room in xlink and boxlink.

Help?? :uhh:

Do you not have to forward any ports to the xbox ip?? Or does xlink take care of this.

If your using Xlink RC2, then the ports have to be forwarded to the PC that is running the software.   The PC spoofs your Xbox into thinking it is talking to another Xbox, instead of talking to Xlink RC2.

If your using KAI, you should not need to forward ports although that is still an option if your still having trouble.

Also...MAKE SURE your router is updated with the latest firmware.   I have the wired router, and my firmware was light years behind for whatever reason and when I upgraded my firmware I got it working.

Hope this helps.
