Ok, so everybody's got cool names for their xbox, but mine is just, "xbox." HOw do I change the name so when I do system link, I can have another name for my box?

is your xbox modded?

if not do you have 007 Agent Under Fire?

if you do, try a lookup for info on the 007 exploit

then u can use Xtoolbox to change your name or you can ftp to your xbox and edit the file e:\UDATA\NICKNAME.XBN with a hex editor

if you need further details try the software exploit section they have more info on that kind of stuff there.


basically if you dont have a modded box it probably isnt worth it.

Then you can do eather of the above!

Xtoolbox is the easiest way if you arent familiar with HEX editing

PS
Don't use any illegal characters in your box name. (letters and #'s only)

I wonder if some of the people who keep saying they can see games but always get a failed to join msg.
i will have to remember to start asking people that question when they say they cant join.

Ok, I'm using winhex and I found a tut. One thing though, the first line says, "OS.-some kind of bar thing-x.b.o.x...y" then a few lines later it says, "SMS.t.u.m.p.y...."

Anyway, the tut doesn't say anything about the OS deal. Which do I change?

This is really weird. Every time I overwrite it, it just changes back to the original file. I can't edit it without the xbox, or something, changing it back. Weird.

ok, thanks guys. I figured it out. well, I fixed it. I just deleted the old one, rebooted, and then installed a new xbn. Problem fixed.

Thanks for the help.

btw, I don't have xToolbox. and I couldn't find it. What folder would it be in?
