I used to have the original xecuter in my Xbox, but pulled it out in favor of flashing the tsop, and installing a switch for that.
I went with that, because the features of the mod chip at the times cost a hell of alot more than the simple $3 switch from radio shack, and actually took more effort to install in all cases other than pogo.
Obviously this doesn't offer up the menu driven boot ups, or any of the other chip specific stuff like LED displays, but it is a seriously cheap and very functional alternative to spending 10 times as much for a mod chip.
I have my modded bios set to boot up with a red LED, and goes straight to Ava on my G drive, while the original bios boots as it always has.
[EDIT]
Just read a bit further down and saw the post of your's stating your familiarity with the TSOP flashing. Just toss in a simple $3 switch and Live play is all good.
Also, for the record...
I have a 200gig in my Xbox, and play on Live regularly. I highly doubt MS will institute bannings for the different HD's.
They would in essence be telling all of us that have such, that they would prefer that we steal their games and play them on Xlink, rather than actually purchase the games as is required now.
