Help! Can't Get Xlink To Work
« on: March 13, 2004, 12:45:00 PM »

The last couple of days I've messed and messed with trying to get xlink to work.  Today I went out and bought a d-link router 604 version.  I got everything plugged in right and the networking aspect is fine.  I don't have a port forwarding option in my router config I just have a Virtual Server thing that has a Name, Private IP, Protocal type between UDP and TCP, or both; a private port, and then a public port.  It has nothing for me to port forward.  Everytime I do try to run Xlink I get a run time error 2.  I'm fustrated to the point of no other I feel like taking a bat to this router.  If someone could help me out and tell me what to do from here I would really appreciate it, please dont redirect me to reading the help section at Xlink because I've read over about a 100 times.  Thank you.  <

open you router con fig and go to
advanced
applications
select a name.......any
trigger port......34518-34519
trigger type.....udp
public port.....34519
public type.....udp

hit apply and you are set.  This setting will let you use XBlive (must disable modchip!!!!) and Kai but not Xlink.  If you want to add Xlink look below.....

got to
advanced
virtual server
Put in a name...xlink1 (or anything)
put in your.........Private IP
Protocol Type.....UDP
Private Port......34518
Public Port ....... 34518
Schedule..... Always
click apply

got to
advanced
virtual server
Put in a name...xlink2 (or anything)
put in your.........Private IP
Protocol Type.....UDP
Private Port......34519
Public Port ....... 34519
Schedule..... Always
click apply

Now you should be set.  Remember if you want to play XBlive and you can disable your modchip, disable the Xlink 2 setting, which is the last setting on this screen.
These are my settings and work flawlessly.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)   <

Alright fellas I did all the correct port forwarding still no go.  I enabled my dmz, the last thing there is to setup a static ip through my router how I do I accomplish this Im some what confused on how to do so.  If someone could explain the way I would do it with this router I would very much appreciate it.  <
