Communicator Not Working, Help!
« on: January 27, 2004, 04:31:00 AM »

Hello everybody!
I've got a problem getting my xbox live communicator working under Xlink (Bo-xlink) I can log in, play games, that's no problem. But the problem is that I can't hear anybody talk and nobody can hear me speak through the communicator. Does anybody has the same problem or know how it's fixed???

I'll hope you can help me out here!
Cheers,

Can you list what you do, from start to finish, when you play a game online?  <

Communicator Not Working, Help!

Thanks for the reply!

First of all this is my network config of my PC:
My PC is hooked on a router. I've cofigured the ports wich XLink uses within my router so they are not blocked by it. My Xbox is connected to my PC through a seconed NIC. I've Bridged the two connections within Windows XP.
Before I go to my xbox I launch XLink (version RC2 with the update) on my PC. It's logs on the Xlink server without any problems. Then I start Bo-xlink on my Xbox and it connects to the Xlink server without problems. It sees my local xbox and the remote xboxes when I'm in WGN mode. First i've tried to join a room, this also works fine and I push up on the right joystick/thumbstick. I talk to my comunnicator, with the green light on, but I get no reaction from the other players. I even don't here them talk etc.
Then the game is launched, in this case Top spin or Midtown Madness 3. I can join the games and start playing. But i can't communicate.
After this tried to communicate in WGN mode but the same thing happened, or better, didn't happen....

Sorry for the long text I'll hope it makes sense and you can help me out!

Thanks!

1. a lot of players dont use boxlink, tho a lot do, so talking in the room, they could hear you if they have the speaker icon not muted, but thats only if they are in boxlink like i said.

2. midtown madness doesnt support voice via system link, please refer to the "supported games" list for those games that support voice via the live headset in system link.

I dont think you can voice chat in the wgn area, tho i could be wrong....

anyway, sounds like you have the right setup... topspin should work, but not everyone has a headset to talk back either...  <

Another weird thing is that I can't hear anybody speak. I've been online quit a lot so changes are that I probably met somebody with a communicator.
Mmm...Maybe somebody with a communicator can post here and we can try to communicate wtih our communicators sometime...

Hey guy u read my mind, I just got my communicator for my xbox but the thing is I can hear my friends and others speak but they cant hear me.  The light on my communicator is green and well I just cant hear them. Does any one have this problem? if so do they know how to fix it? below are the network setup I'm using

My pc and xbox are connected to my router, I forward the ports that xlink uses to my PC, (not unless there is a port I have to forward for the communicator that wasnt in the help file) thats pretty much it as for the steps here goes!

1.turn on my xbox wit the communicator attached to my controller
2.load up boxlink
3.go to a room
4.go into the chat thingy on boxlink
5.hear others talk but not me

I hope some one can help me, I'd really appreciate it.  ALso keep up the good work u guys have a great program!  <

BrunnenG whats your XTag?? Mine is TheJezusMan.
I'm asking this because maybe we can join in a room and you tell me if your able to hear me, and we can figure out what's wrong.
Well let me know what you think about it!
Cheers

okay, I've filtered out that my Headset is broken, I tested it with a friend's xbox live account and it works.
I've re-installed the Wincap drivers, but still no luck......  <

Thanks for the help guys,
I've time in the weekend to play online again. (busy with my study at the moment)
Xeero I don't have crimson skies, but thanks for the offer.
I've tried a couple of things out again. I can confirm that my communicator is working under XBConnect with out any probs. So my new theory is that it has something to do with Bo-xlink. I'm going to check if it works without using Bo-link under XLink.
MAybe Bo-Xlink is using another UDP port than Xlink????
Well I keep you informed!

Cheers!  <

nope. its not boxlink or xlink, as the game is what controls voice, not the tunneling app.  <

That's always been my understanding of it, which has confused me as to why BO-Xlink is necessary to use the headset with others.  Any ideas?  <

i meant this like, some games support voice over system link, some dont, but the tunneling software would have nothing to do with whether you hear voice in game or not...its all in the game, not the app...i am not sure if that makes sense...

its just nice to use the headset in boxlink to talk with others using boxlink to setup a game...

i hear soon with the ava integration, those with kai on pc will be able to talk to those with kai in ava with live headset, pre-game of course, to setup games and talk (chat).
