Is there anyone who doesn't have halo lag problems on rc2?  Is there any tweakable setting that could help?  Other games have been fine.. is there another app to use that works better for halo cause it seems like I've seen some posts of people saying that halo is very laggy in general on xlink.. otherwise, xlink rulz

halo runs fine...but see, it uses up lots of bandwidth, because its not an online game. you could turn on packet caching, i dunno if it would help you or not, but i have played a few games, and it runs great.

you get someone with a shit upload speed and they join your game, its going to screw it all to hell. check out the games list for b/w usage.

Because Halo wasn't made for playing online, it needs about 128k upload per box connected to the game, and an extra 30k (ish) per player in the game. This means it's always going to lag, but if you get someone with a good host (could be someone with a high upload, or someone that lives close to you... Someone on the same ISP as you will often get smoother games too.) it can be very smooth.

Bottom line, there's no way to totally get rid of Halo's lag when you join the game, it's just a part of online gaming :)

Kind of OT but it always amazes me that MS didn't release a specific Halo multiplayer for Live.  Most of the work was already done - optimize it for internet, use the same maps, and throw in a few tweaks and extras to make it even more worthwhile (I think PS2 did this with Twisted Metal Black Online).  Sell it for $30 and I guarantee the number of Live subscribers would be much higher than they are now.  With Halo2 around the corner there's not much point in this but MS basically left money and a huge incentive on the table - something they don't usually do.

Yeah, I agree. Plus it might cut down on the numbers that they will get once Halo2 is out.
