You are hurting my feelings and I'm not gonna be your friend anymore.

LOL - I thought your headset was all the friend you needed.

How can I tell my lag is bad ... I can see the other people ...were can I see my lag ... maybe a Indicator in the Room can show the LAG of the person in Big print ... GREEn for excellent lag,  Orange for average and RED for BAD!

When you are in the Arena and see a list of people look at the small bar to the right of their name, the higher the bar, the better the connection..  The ping rate indicates the time taken in milliseconds for a packet of data to be returned from the user.. the lower the ping rate the quicker the connection between the two of you.. When a user with a high ping rate joins a game it drags everyone down to be playing at that level..

I do like the idea of a quick view colour code..

This time lag free, I'm glad he managed to get his S*IT together biggrin.gif

All are welcome in our games, just don't lag us out or we will shoot you!!!! tongue.gif

If you don't have a headset then make it your next purchase £20 is well worth it for the laugh you get, until you get 1 you should keep some line of communication open, for the people with their xbox & PC's in different rooms would it hurt you to get off your ass & go check the PC for any msg's you might have in the room chat once in a while.

Looking forward to seeing you all online for a game, chat & a laugh jester.gif

it was yet another good session last night, and i'm sure mr Tyotyo enjoyed it too, well, maybe not the part when Gerri (Trigger Happy Babe With Attitude) shot him anyway.. I think she just got a little carried away.. and she is still reminding me that she shot me.. damn, i'm looking forward to payback..

Just one question for a newbie here, what causes Lag?

I have ADSL 512 here in the UK and the other day I played Top Spin and it was slow as hell but then the next time I played against the same person it was fine. I had no other apps open on my PC so couldn't understand it.

Distance the packets have to travel, and that doesn't mean physical distance. I could live 10 houses down the street from you, but my ISP may have to route traffic to the other side of the world before it can come back to you, meaning a larger ping than you would expect.

IMO: If you do not own a headset, stick to the games that have no voice capability.
A headset is a cheap investment ($30 US retail).

Agreed 100%

What about the people where a headset would be useless to them.

Do you want to say to someone who is deaf  that they are unable to play in your game.

I do not think that we should discriminate against anybody.

There is a really good wireless headset option that people are using but we're talking $150+ tax to get it set up.  I'm not enthused enough about Xbox online gaming to pony up that kind of cash at this point.
