Well, I think I can say for posative that it was not the cable... I used a 16" IDE that had 5 connections put on it and still the same thing.
I was wondering this though.. Is it nessisary to also break the grounds on the Hard Drives?? I did not do this yet just the + 12 and + 5 volts.
I will let you know what happens there.

no you dont have to break the grounds. that wouldn't make any sense. your hardrives might not all be compatable, or have you tried switching the 3rd in for #2 or 1? I heard the extender gave alot of people a really hard time.... this lead to cutting wires on the ide cable and adding switches or somthing.

I did, He replied with this... get a ATA 100, 133, 166 cable then you do not need this mod. So I replied that I have already tried that and it is still not working.

I have the xtender kit also and i can only get 2 drives to work at the same time. As soon as i hookup the third it looks up at the big x while booting up. So switching 1 and 29 thats supposed to be the trick............
