XTest Inspection Tool
« on: January 02, 2004, 04:22:00 AM »

Ok, iv'e read all the post and all help files on the xlink site for 2 days now, but i still can't get X-link messenger to work.

Im running MS ISA server and I forwarded UDP ports 34518 and 34519 (receive/send) to my internal machine 192.168.1.10 in server publishing.

I also allowed UDP 34518 and 34519 (Send/receive) as outbound protocols for my internal network

Are there any other ports i need to open or forward?

I know there are wlan issues but the same problem occurs when i use my normal lan (have wlan/lan on my notebook)

Here is my test dump, please tell me whats wrong with it?

QUOTE (flat235 @ Sep 4 2003, 12:39 PM)
Hey guys,

If you're having troubles trying to log-in to XLink, and you KNOW you've got the port-forwards correctly setup, you can run this tool to diagnose the situation. Please detail your network and Internet setup eg. Linksys BEFSR41W wireless router, XBox wired to router, PC wired to router etc etc...

Before you do run the test, here are a few things to remember (and hopefully save you time).

1. If you're Internet access is behind a transparent proxy, and you know this, make sure you have XLink 2.2.4 EXE build running and you select 'Safe Mode' under the log-in fields in XLink.

2. If you've got a firewall running, you might have to disable it to let the packets from the XServer reach your machine. If you know how to bypass the ports that XLink requires in your firewall software, do that. You can also set yourself to the DMZ on your router when you want to play, but make sure to disable it or change it back once finished playing. Consult your router manual for more information.

3. Please please please make sure you read the website about wireless networks. For wireless play, you'll need to get your XBox a WEB (Wireless Ethernet Bridge). Yes, I know you can log-in to XLink if you've got your XBox hardwired to a router and your PC running on wireless, but don't come running back for help when you find out that you can't join / host games etc. Either get yourself the WEB, or hardwire your machine when you want to use XLink.

4. CLOSE X-LINK AND/OR XBCONNECT BEFORE RUNNING THE TOOL!

AND ONLY POST HERE IF YOU CAN'T LOG-IN, NOT IF YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE CONNECTING TO SOMEONE'S HALO GAME ETC...

Thanks,
The XLink Crew.

how do i set port-forwards?

smile.gif I have tried xbconnect to which the start up screen said i was using a wireless router, lies - both my xbox and my pc are connected to the SAME, HARDwired router.
Anyways i have installed the networking upnp micosoft stuff and that did not help, i have forwarded my ports and that did not work, (incidently i have tried messaging people from within kai, and yes, it works fine). I just cannot either host or see games. I would really appreciate some help, i have looked all over and cannot find an answer.  unsure.gif

Could it possibly be the router that is at fault (tho i have not had any other problems with it before)??!!....
