2 X-box 360's
« on: March 30, 2006, 05:39:00 AM »

Hi

I was wondering if anyone ad tried to get 2 X-box's online through the same router, it worked fine with the old X-box but the 360 doesn't like it for some reason, its a 2mb line so I would have thought it could cope quite easy, they work fine one at a time but if you try to put them online at the same time then one of them cant find X-box live.

i've had a 360 and two originals on XBL all on at the same time on the same router.  i have a netgear WGR614v6.  isp is road runner.  haven't had any problems getting on XBL with any of them since i updated the firmware for the router.  don't see why two 360s wouldn't work on the same router, especially if you've used it before with an original and 360 at the same time before.

what kind of error do you get when you do a "test xbox live connection" on both of them???

It doesn't actually error, everything checks out fine except logging on to xbl, it just tells me to check all my account information is up to date, but if you run them seperately they log on fine so my details must be right. Maybe I'm just confusing it a bit and it'll sort itself out eventually, thanks for your help though.

You probably have to get a new router.  I had that same problem with the original xbox, I had to upgrade toa d-link router to allow two xboxes online at the same time.  Although you did say it worked with two with the original, I'm guessing the the 360 isn't identical when it comes to router compatibility.  I think xbox.com had a list of compatible xbl routers on their site.

My 360 seems a bit more sensitive to my network. I've had several original xboxes on my LAN over XBL with no problems. But the 360 doesn't like my BEFSR41 very much, or maybe it's network stabilty is not very stable at all. I play Halo 2 mostly and I get a LOT of troubleshooters on the 360 (very annoying), but almost never on my other xboxes. It seems likely that the 360 is very greedy and hates when anything else tries to use any bandwidth (and I have an 8Mb DL speed). Anyone else having trouble with their 360 and XBL?
